JLP members to discuss fate of Andrew Holness

Members of the opposition Jamaica Laboour Party (JLP) are scheduled to attend a meeting on Monday morning at the party's Belmont Road headquaters to discuss the fate of  Leader Andrew Holness.

The meeting  - scheduled to begin at 10 o'clock has been called to among other things disucss issues related to Holness' stewardship of t he party.

Delroy Chuck, who last week resigned from the Shadow Cabinet and urged  Holness to also step aside, last night told RJR News he will be in attendance.

The meeting will be chaired by Leader of  Opposition Business in the House of  Representatives, Derrick Smith. Holness was at the centre of  the Senate seat controversy during which he came in for mounting criticism in the JLP over his handling of the matter.

Time to unite

The opposition leader believes too much is at stake for the JLP. Holness made the statement at a gospel concert in St. South West St. Catherine late Sunday.

"The Labour Party cannot be a divided House, there is too much at stake and everyone, including myself must put aside out personal pride , feelings and ambitions, because the only feelings that matter  - is yours," he said.

No bad blood

In the aftermath of the recent Senate controversy, Arthur Williams says there is no "bad blood" between himself and the JLP leader. According to Williams he recently had a lengthy discussion with the JLP Leader.

"We met for two hours followign the constitutional court rulign and there was no tension."

He added that there is some tension in the party  " If i'm to put it frankly and squarely, the (party) is divided and healing and unity is required."

He sayd it will take team effort to repair the damage that has befallen the JLP.
