The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says it has restored electricity to some customers across the island after heavy winds associated with a cold front wreaked havoc on its supply systems on Monday.
About 30,000 customers were affected.
Winsome Callum, JPS Director of Corporate Communication, says restoration of service resumed Tuesday morning.
"We've been out since 7:00 a.m. in some areas and we have started to bring customers back onto the system gradually. We have more than 20,000 customers who have been affected across the island," she said.
Kingston and St. Andrew as well as St. Catherine are the most affected parishes, however, she said persons in as far as St. James and Westmoreland are also without power.
Meanwhile, the JPS said it is possible that customers will continue to experience frequent power outages as the heavy winds persist.
The Meteorological Service has said while the cold front is expected to move east away from Jamaica on Tuesday, the country will continue to experience windy conditions throughout the week.
