Judge orders that policeman be released or charged for colleague's murder

Senior Parish Judge Judith Pusey has ordered that investigators either charge or release a policeman being held for the murder of Woman Corporal Judith Williams.
     
Attorneys went to Court Tuesday morning to persuade Senior Parish Judge Pusey to authorise the policeman's release from custody. The Senior Judge had given the police until Tuesday to charge or release the Constable.
     
However in a new development, Attorney Peter Champagne who is representing the Policeman, said Justice Pusey issued a final order in court. In her ruling, Justice Pusey has ordered that the policeman be released or be charged on or before Friday June 3. 
   
On Sunday Police Commissioner Dr. Carl Williams, declared that charges will be laid in the matter this week.
   
The 54-year-old female corporal, who was attached to the Office of the Police Commissioner, was killed on April 28. She was shot several times as she stood at a bus stop while heading to work, and died the following morning.
