Judge requires DNA analysis before considering bail for suspects in deaths of elderly couple

The judge presiding over the case involving the St. Thomas man and his girlfriend who are charged with the murder of a Jamaican-Canadian couple in Retreat, St. Thomas two months ago has ruled that a DNA analysis must be completed before bail can be considered.

Justice Luciana Jackson made the ruling when the matter came up for mention in the Parish Court on Monday.

Fabian Skervin and Nekkia Thompson, who are from Soho in St. Thomas, are to return to court on April 12.

Miss Thompson's attorney, Hensley Williams, submitted to the court that there was no evidence linking his client to the murder of 81-year old Melbourne Flake and his 70 year old wife Etta.

The Flakes were found dead at their vacation home on January 9.

Mr. Skervin and Miss Thompson are charged with two counts of murder and robbery with aggravation.
