Keith Rhodd, former Member of Parliament for East Portland, is dead. He passed away on Thursday.
At the time of his death, Mr. Rhodd was living abroad. He had been ailing for a short while.
Keith Rhodd served as MP for one term, 1976-1980. In the 1976 election, running as a candidate for the People's National Party, he had a comfortable victory over Anthony Abrahams of the Jamaica Labour Party, securing 9,292 votes to Mr. Abrahams' 7,433.
Abrahams turned the tables on Rhodd in the October, 1980 general election, however, securing 10,196 votes to Mr. Rhodd's 7,827.
After Keith Rhodd left the political scene, his son, Dr. Donald Rhodd, took up the mantle and served three terms as MP for East Portland, from 1997 to 2011.
