Kern Spencer and Coleen Wright freed of corruption charges

Former junior energy minister Kern Spencer was freed of corruption and money laundering charges this morning before the Corporate Area Criminal Court.

His former personal assistant Coleen Wright was also freed.

Senior magistrate Judith Pusey released the two after upholding no case submissions by their attorneys.

Mr Spencer and Ms Wright were released after four years on trial for alleged money laundering in the Cuban Lightbulb distribution programme.

The two were accused of creating several companies to funnel money out of the programme in 2007.
