KSAMC drops plan for paid parking facilities

The Kingston & St Andrew Municipal Corporation has withdrawn a resolution seeking to establish designated areas for paid parking.
This was revealed at the Corporation's monthly meeting on Tuesday.
No reason was given for the withdrawal.
The resolution noted that the demand for roadside parking has increased significantly in Kingston. It asserted that the revenue would assist with the cost of road maintenance which is putting a strain on the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation's budget.
The paid parking areas would have been in downtown Kingston, Cross Roads, Half-Way-Tree as well as New Kingston.
It had been scheduled to take effect on April 1.
