The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) is conducting investigations to identify people in need of general and emergency assistance in relation to Tuesday's fire at Ray Ray market.
In a statement Thursday morning, Winston Ennis, Deputy Mayor of Kingston, said the Corporation will be working to have the market restored.
Some 145 stalls and several goods were destroyed in this week's fire, which is the second fire to destroy the market in less than a year.
The Deputy Mayor stated that the KSAMC is expediting repairs to Redemption arcade and Papine market which were also destroyed by fire.
In May, fire destroyed 38 per cent of Papine market. A section of the roof collapsed as a result of the blaze. Redemption arcade was destroyed in June last year. An electrical short circuit was suspected to be the cause of the blaze.
Mr. Ennis disclosed that plans have been tabled, which include fire sprinklers in markets and CCTV cameras with real time monitoring.
