Lawyers seeking to secure Brady's release

Lawyers representing prominent attorney Harold Brady are now making arrangements to have him released on bond after he was charged with fraud on Thursday afternoon.

Mr. Brady, who turned up shortly before 2 o'clock at the Police Fraud Squad, has been charged with defrauding businessman Jeffery Panton of $37 million.

It's reported that during the period June to September last year, Mr Panton hired Mr Brady to sell a house for him in Stony Hill, St Andrew.

After selling the house for $51 million, Mr Brady reportedly paid over US$165,000 to the businessman in November.

It's alleged that he failed to hand over the balance of J$37 million, causing Mr Panton to report him to the police.

Mr Brady has been offered $3 million station bail.

He's expected to stay in custody overnight.

Following Today's developments, the Jamaica Labour Party has announced that Mr. Brady, a longstanding member, has taken leave from all Party activities until his legal matter is settled.
