Legal battle looms between INDECOM boss, parish judge

A legal showdown is looming between INDECOM Commissioner Terrence Williams and a judge in the St. Andrew Parish Court.

Mr. Williams appeared before the judge on Friday and requested that she recuse herself from the case in which five policemen are charged with the shooting of a 13 year old student of Alpha Academy in downtown Kingston.

Hearing of the application is set for November 15.

Mr. Williams is concerned about biased comments reportedly made by the judge.

The cops, who appeared in court on Friday, had their bail extended.

They were charged with wounding and breaches of the INDECOM Act following a probe into the shooting of the 13 year old student.

It was reported that the cops fired on a robot taxi at the intersection of North Street and Mark Lane after the driver reportedly disobeyed their signal to stop on June 30, 2016.

The student, who was a passenger, was shot in the head.

The policemen, who are attached to Mobile Reserve, denied being in the area at the time of the shooting.
