Major crimes decrease in St. Ann, St. Mary, Portland

Statistics show a 25 per cent decrease in major crimes in the Area Two Police division which comprises St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland.                 
Assistant Commissioner Fitz Bailey, head of Area Two, said 339 serious and violent crimes were reported up to this month, compared to 441 for the corresponding period last year.  
     
ACP Bailey said there was a 53 per cent clear up rate.  
     
There were also reductions in reports of rape, aggravated assault, and break-ins.
