"Major player" in lottery scamming captured in Hanover

A 22 year-old man described as a major player in the lottery scam in western Jamaica was captured Thursday morning.
He was held by members of the Lottery Scam Task Force in Hanover.
Oraine Gray, an electrician of Ramble in the parish, was arrested on an extradition warrant during a special operation which began on Wednesday.
He has been indicted in the United States on charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, attempting mail fraud, obtaining money by false pretence and money laundering.
He is expected in court next week.
During the two-and-a-half hour raid at Mr. Gray's home, lottery scamming paraphernalia including electronic devices and lead sheets were allegedly seized.
Members of the Lottery Scam Task Force, the Fugitive Apprehension Team and US Law enforcement officers participated in the operation.
A senior investigator told RJR News that detectives of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) had been searching for Mr. Gray for sometime, following an extradition request from the US government.
