Man arrested for illegal gun at security checkpoint in St. James

A man has been taken into custody, after he attempted to pass through a vehicular checkpoint in Montpelier, St. James, with a gun in his bag.
Lloyd Parkins, of Bethel Town in Westmoreland, has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
About 9:30 Wednesday night, the driver of Toyota Voxy was signalled to stop by a security team.
The passengers and the vehicle were searched.
The accused was allegedly found carrying the illegal weapon - a .38 revolver loaded with six live rounds.
He is due to appear in the Western Regional Gun Court on July 16.
