Man charged with drug smuggling in UK, after arriving from Jamaica

A man from North Wales has been charged with drug smuggling after Border Force officers at Manchester Airport seized a quantity of Class A drugs, following his arrival from Jamaica.         


Anthony Durrad, 64, was stopped after he arrived on a flight from Montego Bay on December 9.  
   
Following searches, officers recovered a quantity of  cocaine. Tests are being carried out to determine the quantity and value of  the drugs.  
   
Durrad appeared at Trafford Magistrate's Court on Friday and was remanded until Thursday.           
   
Phil Shields, Assistant Director for Border Force at Manchester Airport, has declared that officers there are determined to do all they can to prevent drug trafficking and put those responsible behind bars.
