A resident of Flagaman, St. Elizabeth
A massive fire is now raging in Flagaman, St. Elizabeth and has destroyed several acres of crops.
Four units from the Jamaica Fire Brigade are battling the blaze.
Several private trucks are being used to transport water to the location.
It is reported that the blaze started Friday morning and spread to several sections of the farming belt.
A resident of Flagaman told RJR News Friday afternoon that the damage is extensive.
"A lot of farm materials, grass and crops intended for reaping, have been destroyed, several acres," he lamented, adding that several houses had also caught fire, however, firefighters managed to get those fires under control.
The resident said crops such as watermelon, cantaloupe, scallion and other vegetables have been destroyed.
