Maurice Smith leaving Education Ministry

Dr. Maurice Smith, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, will be leaving the post at the end of the month.
    
RJR News understands that his contract was not renewed.
    
Dr. Smith has been serving as permanent secretary for a little less than a year, after being appointed on November 16 last year.
    
He met with senior staff at the Education Ministry last week, where he announced his departure.
    
Dr. Smith confirmed his departure to RJR News on Monday morning. 

Education Minister Senator Ruel Reid could not be reached for a comment.
