Gloria Henry, President of the Business Process Industry Association of Jamaica

Measures have been implemented to clear the major backlog of police records which was having a crippling effect on the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector.

Gloria Henry, President of the Business Process Industry Association of Jamaica, on Sunday night told RJR News that an employee of the Criminal Records Office has been assigned to specifically handle applications from prospective employees of BPO companies in an effort to urgently address the backlog.

News emerged last week that BPO companies were facing the possibility of losing contracts because they do not have the required personnel.

The Business Process Industry Association of Jamaica said one company was awaiting criminal records for more than 1,500 prospective employees.
