The Chapelton Community Hospital in Clarendon is to undergo a US$1-million r expansion and upgrade.
Push Start Foundation, a US-based entity headed by Beverly Nichols who was born in Clarendon, is providing the funds to undertake the project.
It will include a new minor operating theatre; expanded waiting and records areas; improved bathroom facilities; a new laboratory to improve diagnostic services; improved parking area and water storage; and new electrical and plumbing works.
Four additional doctors' offices will be built and a second ward to accommodate 15 beds, increasing the total number of bed spaces to 30.
The Chapelton Community Hospital was recently renovated at a cost of J$23 million .
