Mobile company expert testifies at Kartel’s trial

Day 18 of the Vybz Kartel (Adidja Palmer) murder trial saw one of two witnesses from telecommunications provider, Digicel, taking the stand.

Mario Assaad, group chief technology officer, on Friday outlined how the company's network and information technology operate. He testified that it is possible for someone to hack into an individual's phone and send messages.

As part of the evidence to be introduced in the trial, the prosecution is expected to use information from electronic gadgets allegedly seized from the entertainer and four other co-accused.

They include cellular phones believed to contain information, relating to the August 2011 murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams.

Following further questioning from defence attorneys, Mr. Assaad was dismissed.

The trial is to continue on Monday, however it will be held in camera.
