The Health Ministry is again seeking to assure the public that there are several brands of paracetamol available to treat symptoms of Chikungunya.
This follows reports that persons were encountering challenges accessing some brands of the drug in private pharmacies.
Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Marion Bullock DuCasse, says there's an adequate supply of paracetamol tablets and syrup in the health sector. In a statement last night, she said the country is in a position to get additional stock if the need arises.
Dr. DuCasse said persons can be guided by their pharmacists on the brand as all the products work in the same way and are approved by the Health Ministry. They include: Panadol, Panalix, Apap, Cetamol, Tylenol, Painol, Painex, Fitzroy Paracetamol and Las-Paracetamol. The Ministry says the tablets are to be taken only when symptoms of pain and fever occur.
