Municipal corporations to get more funds to sanitise markets

As the Government ramps up the effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus, municipal corporations will be provided with funds to assist with continued sanitisation within market districts.

This was disclosed by Desmond McKenzie, Minister of Local Government and Community Development, during a digital town hall meeting on Tuesday.

Mr. McKenzie said he will also meet with the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) to discuss improving garbage collection.

He added that the ministry is to acquire temperature machines to screen individuals, who use markets, and may be exhibiting symptoms of the coronavirus.
