Figures from the Jamaica Constabulary Force revealed that the country's murder tally is inching close to the two hundred mark.
From January 1 to February 10 there were 184 murders.
This is 22 more murders when compared to the same period last year.
Six of the victims were children.
Sixty-four of the 184 murders have been cleared up.
The police statistics show the gun was used to commit most of the crimes.
On the other hand, the country recorded a reduction in rape and aggravated assaults.
However, larceny more than doubled when compared to 2017.
There were 19 reported cases of larceny compared to eight last year.
