The names of the four persons shot and killed in the community of Venecia, near Linstead in St. Catherine on Wednesday night have been released. They are 20 year old Shauna-Kaye Simpson, 30 year Garfield Simpson, 27 year old Ricodel Jackson, a Junior Analyst employed to Nestle Jamaica and 43 year old Dian Pratt all of Venecia Lane. They were killed by men who were on a robbery spree.
Sometime after 9 o'clock, Shauna-Kaye and Garfield Simpson were walking when they were approached by three men armed with guns. The men robbed them, and when they both ran off in a bid to escape, they were shot. They died at the scene.
The gunmen then went to a nearby shop where Mr. Jackson was. He was asked to hand over his cellular phone. When he refused, he too was shot and killed.
Moments later, Mr. Pratt drove up to the shop and encountered the gunmen. He was told to exit his car, however he drove off and was shot.
Mr. Jackson and Mr. Pratt were pronounced dead at hospital.
