NEPA: Oil spill in Mammee Bay, St. Ann cleared

The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) is advising the public that the oil spill on the North-South Highway in the vicinity of Mammee Bay, St. Ann, on Friday, has been cleared.
The agency said the oil spill will not have any adverse effect on the environment or marine life.
The detention pond, in which the oil was contained, was covered with marl, sand and soil.
NEPA said it was then sprayed with oil removal chemical and washed and the slurry removed by a vacuum truck.
