Nestle workers protest dismissal of colleague

For the second time in three weeks workers at Nestle Jamaica Limited in Bog Walk, St. Catherine are on strike.

The 170 employees walked off the job Thursday evening to protest against the dismissal of a colleague.

It is reported that the company took action against the worker due to the alleged misuse of her time card.

However, the National Workers' Union, NWU, is accusing Nestle of not following due process.

On Thursday the RJR News Centre was informed that the management of Nestle has called the union to a meeting at 8 o'clock Friday morning.

Howard Duncan, vice president of NWU, says the strike will continue pending the outcome of the talks.
