Residents of New Building in St. Elizabeth protested on Monday morning about the lack of water and alleged pollution caused by the JISCO/ALPART bauxite plant.

The residents have said that the company is responsible for providing them with water, which they have not received.

There have also been complaints about pollution, causing respiratory issues among the residents.

The management of the JISCO/ALPART bauxite plant is to hold a meeting with the residents on Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. to address their concerns.

The company said it does not have adequate water to operate its plant due to scarce rainfall.

Moreover, it will also be clamping down on illegal water connections in communities.
