Cecile Watson, Managing Director of the National Housing Trust (NHT) has been dismissed.
On Wednesday, her attorney told RJR News that her client received her letter of termination on Tuesday
“Mrs. Watson has received her letter of termination , it’s dated the 4th of November. However she will be seeking redress in light of the action by the National Housing Trust…the expenditure that Mrs. Cecile Watson is alleged to have done, that is to overextend on the renovations to the board room, are untrue, she has denied the allegations. She provided documents of proof to the Trust that her expenditure was well within the limits of the Ministry of Finance’s guidelines so the action of the board is extraordinary,” said Janet Morrison of the firm Hart Muirhead Fatta.
On Wednesday morning RJR News reported that the NHT was contemplating parting ways with Watson after the matter was discussed at a lengthy meeting of the Board on Monday.
It is expected that she will be compensated for the remainder of her contract, which expires in May next year.
Watson had been on suspension since August to facilitate an audit into the expenditure of millions of dollars to refurbish sections of the NHT's head office.
