No complaints related to increased income tax threshold, says JCTU

The Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU) has said it has not received complaints from public sector workers regarding adjustments to their salaries following the July 1 implementation of the first phase of the increase in the personal income tax threshold.

The threshold moved to $1,000,272.

Public sector workers began receiving their salaries on Thursday and RJR News spoke with JCTU President Helene Davis Whyte, who said based on information she had received, the implementation seems to be running smoothly.
The second phase of the increase will result in a personal income tax threshold of $1.5 million, effective April 1, 2017.
