Noranda Bauxite to help families of employees involved in train crash

Noranda Jamaica Bauxite will be assisting family members of those involved a train crash on Tuesday which left one employee dead and another in hospital.

Robert Martin, 34, from the northern parish of St. Ann was killed on Tuesday morning when the train he was operating, derailed in Discovery Bay in the parish. His colleague, who was also injured in the crash, remains in hospital.    

The company said the men were piloting the bauxite train into the plant in Discovery Bay, when the accident occurred.

According to Noranda emergency crews, assisted by fire personnel from St. Ann and  the neighbouring parish of Trelawny assisted in the rescue operation.
