The management of the National Water Commission (NWC) is seeking to have more of its wells commissioned into service within the next two weeks.
This is expected to significantly increase the amount of water available for the eastern side of the city of Kingston, and ease the pressure being experienced by its other systems.
The news came as the Commission announced even tighter restrictions for some of its Corporate Area customers, and as it faces criticism from others who have not received water according to its earlier restricted schedule.
Mark Barnett, acting president at the NWC, speaking on RJR's Beyond the Headlines, on Monday, said preparations were being made to integrate these wells into the distribution system.
With two other wells having been commissioned earlier than projected, Mr. Barnett said he was hoping that two additional wells will be brought into service "by next week."
