NWC holds water crisis meeting

The National Water Commission will be holding a special meeting on Wednesday to discuss how to respond to the sharp decline in water level at Hermitage Dam in St. Andrew.

The internal meeting will focus on ways to manage the situation at the catchment facility which has the capacity to hold nearly 400 million gallons of water.

News came on Tuesday that the water level at Hermitage had declined to 35 per cent despite rainfall in the Corporate Area in recent days.

Late last month the dam was at 42.5 per cent of  capacity.
