NWC systems shut down due to turbidity

Charles Buchanan, NWC Corporate Communications Manager
The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that several of its systems have been shut down due to turbidity following last weekend's rains.
Charles Buchanan, NWC Corporate Communications Manager, told RJR News that one of the plants was also struck by lightning.
He said about five of the affected systems are located in St. James, four in rural St. Andrew, three in St. Thomas, two in Clarendon and a number of individual systems scattered in other parishes.
"These systems would have been affected where the muddy inflows coming into the facility have resulted in forced closure of the facility to assure of proper water quality to meet appropriate potability standards," he told RJR News.
Teams are trying to restore the systems.
