Ocho Rios crash leaves 25 with minor injuries

Twenty-five persons were taken to hospital on Monday afternoon following a crash in Mammee Bay in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

The crash occurred just as the public passenger bus they were travelling in exited the North South Highway at about 2:00 p.m. The bus crashed into a guard rail and overturned.

None of the passengers sustained life-threatening injuries.

Acting Senior Superintendent Courtney Coubrie, head of the Highway and Traffic Division, will visit the location on Tuesday. He is concerned there might be a need for more signage in the vicinity where the crash took place.
JCF clampdown

Meanwhile, the Highway and Traffic Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has embarked on a new strategy to clampdown on traffic violations and prevent crashes.

It recently received new as well as repaired unmarked vehicles to add to its fleet.

The vehicles will be used in covert operations, the first of which got underway Tuesday morning in the Corporate Area, where eight motorists were prosecuted.
