Opposition concerned about register of electors for Antigua & Barbuda election

The main opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) in Antigua and Barbuda has expressed concern about the state of  the register for elections ahead of  Wednesday's polls.

In a statement, the party said the register for the election that was published on March 12 might have been released in error and may not be the list on which the polls will be held.

The party has called for an explanation from the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission with a view to minimizing any adverse effect which the situation could have on Wednesday's polls.

The election will be a straight fight between the governing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party and the UPP, although there are five other political parties and five independents vying for control of  the 17-seat Parliament.
