Park Lane residents protest arrest of two women and damage JUTC bus.

Calm has returned to sections of Red Hills Road in St Andrew following last night's violent protests by residents of Park Lane.

The angry residents mounted roadblocks along the busy thoroughfare to protest against the arrests of two women from the community.

The residents stoned cars and buses travelling along the road. Cecil Toms, Communication Manager for the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), told RJR News that a JUTC bus was damaged by the protesters.

Superintendent Jacqueline Green, head of the St Andrew North Police Division, told RJR News that the police were maintaining a presence in the area.

The two women are being questioned by the Clarendon police in connection with a murder investigation.
