Phillips announces interim Shadow Cabinet

Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips has announced a 19-member interim Shadow Cabinet.
 
Dr. Phillips said the interim Shadow Cabinet will facilitate the effective functioning of the Opposition in Parliament until the People's National Party elects a new leader.
 
Dr. Phillips said all the members of the previous Shadow Cabinet have been asked to maintain the portfolio oversight responsibilities they had before the September 3 general election.
 
The responsibilities held by opposition spokespersons who were unsuccessful in the election have been reassigned to new members of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
 
The new members of the Shadow Cabinet include Dr. Angela Brown Burke, who replaces Peter Bunting as spokesperson on Education; Janice Allen replaces Dr. Wykeham McNeill at Tourism; and Lothian Cousins replaces Victor Wright in Local Government.
 
Senator Floyd Morris takes over full responsibility for Labour, Social Security and Special Abilities.
 
Dr. Phillips continues to shadow Planning and Development, and Defence; Mark Golding, Finance with support from Lambert Brown for Public Service; Fitz Jackson, National Security; Lisa Hanna, Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade; and Donna Scott Mottley, Justice and Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate.
 
The other members of the Shadow Cabinet are Damion Crawford with Community Development and Culture; Dr. Morias Guy, Health & Wellness; Anthony Hylton, Industry, Competitiveness and Global Logistics; Mikael Phillips, Transport and Works; Phillip Paulwell, Mining and Energy and Leader of Opposition Business in the House; Julian Robinson, Science, Technology and Information; Senator Sophia Fraser Binns, Land and Housing; Natalie Neita, Local Government; and Denise Daley, Youth, Gender Affairs, Entertainment and Sports.
