PM criticises Opposition Leader for recent comments

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has criticised Opposition Leader Andrew Holness, claiming that he failed to give solutions to the challenges facing the country, during the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) Annual Conference.

She also chastised Holness, Leader of the JLP, for comments he made during the conference.

At the conference he stated that he was not like Mrs. Simpson Miller in relation to promises she has made to the country.

In an address to PNP supporters in Central Westmoreland, during campaigning for the December One by-election, the Prime Minister said the main presentations at the JLP were devoid of logic.

“They made no sense, they have not presented an alternative… I have been in politics for a long time… I have never deceived the Jamaican people!”

The Central Westmoreland seat became vacant in August upon the death of sitting Member of Parliament Roger Clarke. Election day is Monday December 1.

The People’s National Party’s Dwayne Vaz will face financial consultant Faye Reid Jacobs of the JLP and Ras Astor Black of the Jamaica Alliance movement.
