PM urges cops to support new Police Commissioner

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has urged members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force to give their full suppport to Major General Antony Anderson who takes up the post of Police Commissioner tomorrow.

Speaking at this morning's press briefing, the Prime Minister said he expects Major General Anderson to do a good job as Police Commissioner.

“Major General is up to the task and has been oeprating in the security environment for many years and has demonstrated by virtue of his record at the Jamacia Defence Force, his skill and knowledge of the area. So I expect him to do very well in the JCF - which is a different environment, a different structure."

"I’m sure he will build a strong alliance with the policemen and that he will assist with the transformation of the organisation.So I’m confident that he will do a good job,” the Prime Minister said .

Major General Anderson, succeeds George Quallo who retired earlier this year.

He  has had a military career in the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) spanning 34 years, culminating in his six-year tenure as Chief of Defence Staff.
