An attempt is being made to defuse the deadly gang feuds which have engulfed sections of downtown Kingston and Lincoln Crescent in St. Andrew.
The Peace Management Initiative, PMI, has intervened and is urgently seeking to stop the bloodshed. Both areas have experienced fatal shootings recently, the most recent being that of a toddler on Luke Lane on Tuesday. Days before there was a triple killing in the Lincoln Crescent area.
Executive Director of the PMI, Damion Hutchinson, told RJR News that based on the escalation of violence intervention is now necessary. A large detachment of police and soldiers has been deployed to communities in West Kingston in the wake of the deadly gang feud.
Meanwhile, Mr Hutchinson has outlined that the group has started preliminary work in the communities, with meetings scheduled for coming days.
