PMI to intervene to defuse deadly gang feuds in downtown Kingston

An attempt is being made to defuse the deadly gang feuds which have engulfed sections of  downtown Kingston and Lincoln Crescent in St. Andrew.

The Peace Management Initiative, PMI, has intervened and is urgently seeking to stop the bloodshed. Both areas have experienced fatal shootings recently, the most recent being that of  a toddler on Luke Lane on Tuesday. Days before there was a triple killing in the Lincoln Crescent area.  

Executive Director of  the PMI, Damion Hutchinson, told RJR News that based on the escalation of  violence intervention is now necessary. A large detachment of  police and soldiers has been deployed to communities in West Kingston in the wake of  the deadly gang feud.

Meanwhile, Mr Hutchinson has outlined that the group has started preliminary work in the communities, with meetings scheduled for coming days.

And four of  the more than one dozen individuals listed by the Kingston Western Police as persons of  interest following the upsurge in violence are now in custody. Twenty year old Steve Allen, otherwise called ‘Frenchie’ of  Charles Street;  Hoshane Frazer alias ‘Straight Up’ and 19 year old Tafari Gayle also known as ‘Tyson’ of  a Denham Town address turned themselves in yesterday. 

Odane Leiba, otherwise called ‘Shower Man,’ was taken into custody on WednesdayThe other persons are being asked to report to the Denham Town Police Station by midday today. It's reported that several men were picked up during operations in Denham Town and Tivoli Gardens yesterday. They were processed and released.
