PM's delay in releasing financial records odd, says Narcisse

Carol Narcisse
Carol Narcisse, Board member of the Jamaica Civil Society Coalition, is describing Prime Minister Andrew Holness' delay in releasing his financial records, as odd.

Mr. Holness had committed to the full disclosure of his assets in two weeks.

In an interview with RJR News, Ms Narcisse said the information should not be difficult to get access to, as Mr. Holness has been required by law for years to present the information to the Integrity Commission. She cited the example of Julian Robertson who recently released his financial records that were submitted to the Commission.

She says it is puzzling that prime minister is taking so long to fulfill his promise.

"Is it that the PM has not made submissions to the Integrity Commission in recent time? What's the hold up?" she questioned.

"If he is intending to lead by example and to fulfill his word, then he really needs to either explain why he's not able to provide the information; but certainly, it is important that he fulfills his promise," she said.

When questioned on the matter during a news conference at Jamaica House on Thursday, Mr. Holness did not respond.
