PNP meeting disrupted briefly by gunshots

Chaos erupted for a short while on Tuesday evening at Portia Simpson Miller Square in St Andrew, where the governing People's National Party was having its final mass rally before Thursday's general election.

Our reporter at the scene described dozens of  persons running for cover after shots rang out during one of  the presentations on stage.
After a few minutes, calm was restored, however, and the presentations resumed.

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller was the final speaker, and she briefly addressed the issue at the end, praising the police for their quick action in response to the incident and urging them to conduct a thorough investigation.
