The Opposition People's National Party (PNP) has expressed outrage at statements made by Government Minister Everald Warmington on the weekend at a rally in South East St. Mary.
At the rally, Mr. Warmington warned registered voters that it was would be unlikely they would receive the necessary government support if they cast their ballots for Dr. Shane Alexis, the People's National Party candidate, in the by-election.
PNP Chairman Fitz Jackson has asserted that the statements by Mr. Warmington "clearly and unquestionably confirm his and his party and government's position of victimisation of members of Parliament who does (sic) not belong to his party."
He also criticised Prime Minister Andrew Holness for not yet addressing the matter, claiming Mr. Holness has proven himself to be silent when it comes to issues affecting the nation.
Mr. Jackson said the PNP will be taking the statements of Mr. Warmington into consideration and will not allow the matter to rest until action is taken.
