Police called to Gregory Park Primary after parent threatens teacher

Richard Williams, principal of Gregory Park Primary School

The police were called to Gregory Park Primary School in Portmore, St. Catherine Thursday morning after a teacher was reportedly threatened by a parent.

Richard Williams, the school's principal, said the parent claimed that his child had an altercation with another student at the institution.

It is reported that the parent came to the school to discipline the other child but turned his anger at a teacher after he was questioned.

He said a preliminary report was sent to the chairman of the school as well as the education officer for the region.

Teachers at the school have been off the job since Thursday morning's incident.

Mr. Williams is concerned that the teachers are frequently faced with hostile situations while on the job.

He wants a meeting involving the police and residents to prevent a recurrence of the incident.
