Police explanation encourages lawyers for teen initially linked to ISIS

The legal team representing the Jamaican boy, who was detained after being denied entry to Suriname, says it is buoyed by Monday's response from the police ahead of  seeking redress from the State.

The police, in a media release, said their investigations have not uncovered any evidence that the 15 year old St. Mary boy was being recruited by the terrorist group ISIS, despite the fact that the boy's actions had initially aroused suspicion.

Zara Lewis, one of  the attorneys for the teenager, responded shortly after the statement was issued, saying "we'll let the relevant authorities determine whether or not the points outlined by the police amount to reasonable suspicion of terrorist activities."

RJR News reported earlier this week that lawyers for the teenager plan to sue the State, seeking damages for false arrest and defamation of  character.
