Police Federation satisfied with work to address air quality issues at Criminal Records Office

The Police Federation has said it is satisfied with the work done to address air quality issues at the Criminal Records Office in downtown Kingston.
 
Sergeant Patrae Rowe, Chairman of the Federation, said he received a report on the work which was completed last weekend.
 
He said problems with the central air conditioning unit have been addressed but preliminary tests are being done to "see how effective it is and if the repairs will hold." 
 
He said the installation of the cooling system still being worked on and should be completed in the next two days.
 
The Federation is awaiting word from health inspectors whether full operations can resume.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Rowe wants the government to fast track plans to improve conditions at other police facilities. 
 
"We want to encourage the government to not only focus on the CRO office because we have been very strident about it, but to look at a broader plan to address a number of our plants islandwide where our members are working in even worse conditions," he said.
