Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, head of the Area Three Police
A report has been sent to the Commissioner of Police on the incident in which a man of unsound mind stole items from the Junction police station in St. Elizabeth.
The Inspectorate of Constabulary (IOC) is also conducting a probe.
On Tuesday, RJR News reported that the man entered the police station last Wednesday night while the guardroom was unmanned.
The man donned a police uniform and later carried out traffic checks. He was later apprehended and the items taken from him.
Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, head of the Area Three Police, confirmed the incident.
ACP Chambers said the man gained access to the police station through the window of an adjoining building.
He said measures are being put in place to prevent a recurrence.
ACP Chambers said the IOC will determine whether there was negligence on the part of the officers who were on duty at Junction police station at the time of the incident.
