The police are on high alert following the shooting of five persons near the St. Ann's Bay market.
News came Sunday night that the attack took place early Saturday morning.
It is reported that about 3:30, gunmen opened fire on persons in a shop.
Three of those shot remain in hospital. Two are said to be in serious condition.
Two teenage girls were among those injured in the attack.
The police have confirmed they are following strong leads in the investigation.
They are also keeping a close watch on the area to prevent reprisal attacks.
