Police seize firearms, ammo in separate incidents

The police seized three firearms in separate incidents Tuesday. Two persons were arrested.
    
One has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. He is 35 year old Desroy Smith of Johnson Hill in St. James. Reports are that about 6 p.m., Mr. Smith was accosted and searched in the community of Dallas in Glendevon and the weapon found.
     
Hours later, in St. Andrew, the Seaview Gardens Police were on foot patrol in Falcon when they observed a group of men standing on the road. One of the men was accosted. He was observed discarding an object behind a wall. 
 
When it was retrieved, it was found to be a 9 millimetre Browning pistol with eleven rounds of ammunition. He was subsequently arrested.
 
Another firearm and ammunition was seized about 3 o'clock, during a special operation in Shelter Rock, Spanish Town in St. Catherine by members of the Spanish Town Police.
 
During the operation one Beretta .45 pistol and three .45 rounds were seized. No arrests was made.
