A policeman attached to the Westmoreland Division is among three persons in custody in relation to the seizure of 2,000 pounds of ganja in Hanover on Thursday night.
The men were held during an anti-narcotics operation.
They are to be charged with possession of ganja; dealing in ganja and taking steps preparatory to export ganja.
Reports are that about 8:20, a police team approached a truck and a Nissan Sunny motor car parked on the Old Green Island main road.
The occupant of the car reportedly fired shots and ran.
The truck, which had three occupants, one of whom was discovered to be a police sergeant dressed in uniform, was searched.
Several bags containing compressed ganja were reportedly found.
