Port Authority calls meeting to address pile up at KFT

Ricardo Valentine, President of the Port Trailer Haulage Association

The Port Authority of Jamaica has called a meeting for Thursday afternoon in the wake of growing concerns about the major pile up of shipping containers at Kingston Freeport Terminal.

The meeting, which is scheduled for 3:30, will involve representatives of the Port Trailer Haulage Association, Kingston Freeport Terminal, Jamaica Customs Agency and representatives of custom brokers.

The ripple effects of the delays in processing the containers have reached the private sector with companies complaining that they are unable to get their goods.

Ricardo Valentine, President of the Port Trailer Haulage Association, said he is hoping for a speedy resolution so that the supply chain can return to normal.
